Full Overview
Today you will be taken face to face with the real Tangier. Kick off with a quiet drive along the central shore, La Corniche, and then explore the city’s east side. You can take some photographs of the port from here, and if you’re fortunate, you may even be able to see Spain from here!
Then, it’s time to go indoors and see Iberia and the suburban region of California, which has luxury chalets and villas (a little like California itself!). When you are introduced to some fine photography and shopping experiences, your guide may find out the past of these places.
Then, go on a tour of the mythical Hercules caves along the coast. These caves are claimed to have hosted the hero once, and you should know what bits of the legend to believe for yourself.
It’s time to come to the true heart of Tangier after the caves, with a Kasbah walking tour. A turbulent past has shaken this 15th century castle, and as a crossroads of life here in Tangier, it acts as a gathering spot for citizens in all walks of life. A good comparison to the crowded and vibrant streets is offered by the archaeological museum. There’s no lack of individuals willing to offer you things, so keep a careful eye on the best offers.
Afterwards, for a particular form of exchange, go to the fruit and vegetable market. You will sample all types of tasty fruits and olives here, and also have a good look at the 800-year-old Banion Tree in Mendoubia. Until going back to our starting place, there is a chance for a mint tea in the Petit Socco.
