TERRACE DES EPICES Kamal Laftimi is a clever young Moroccan who began off with Tlaata wa Sitteen, a tiny riad. In the heart of the souks, his Café des Epices is now a mandatory stop for anyone who wants a light lunch (and Wi-Fi) while shopping, and his newest venture, the Terrace des Epices, is just as successful. The Terrace repeats the recipe of laidback seating in open-sided tables, cool music and big views, covering a wide rooftop a few minutes’ walk from the café. He has introduced a nice Franco-Moroccan all-day dining menu this time. Salads and grilled meat and seafood are specialties, and there is often a choice of fresh juices – citrus, of course, year-round, and whatever else is in the season. It is possible to see young expats not usually seen on this side of town lounging on the banquettes, as a growing number of foreigners are finding their way up the stairs to this rooftop hideaway in search of a peaceful moment in the souk.
