It Ain’t Done until Jeannot One Learns… The Chalet de la Plage (also known as “Chez Jeannot”) is one of the oldest restaurants in the region, this restaurant which has become famous over the centuries has existed in Essaouira since 1893, and designed entirely in wood at the time by the Farraud family. Despite the years past, the school has stayed a top performing establishment. An perfect seaside spot, it is situated by the coast, overlooking an impressive view of the sea and the island of Mogador. It is supported by a sea wall that masks the horizon. The ocean and Seagulls and Gulls crowd the beach as the tide rises and falls. Lastly, this chalet has appeared as though it will be transferred from father to son as the Jeannot family has been selling it to the new owner for 15 years, and the restaurant has seen 4 generations of this family inhabit the property and give the handoff.
